Lesson 1: What is an LP or Who is a Limited Partner?
In this video, I'll explain what a limited partner is.
You'll commonly hear limited partners referred to as LPs. So an LP is an investing partner in a general partnership, and their liability is limited to the extent of their ownership. This is really important for passive investors because you do not want to take on the liability for the actions of others.
It's outside of your control .Now in commercial real estate syndications, the LP is the passive investor who funds a portion of the equity investment. So the general partner, on the other hand, derives a portion of their equity stake by taking on the operations of the partnership and unlimited liability. Now, the limited partner does not have any liability beyond their investment and has no obligations or right to provide any of the management responsibilities.
